Polly's summer sketch challenge - theme 1 - sketching in the kitchen

So, what did I decide to draw from the Dextrous kitchen?
Well I decided to start with something fairly straight forward so I opted for the recipe books on the dresser.  I also chose not to attempt perspective for the moment, especially as the time is limited.
So here is my fifiteen minutes:





Alors, qu'est-ce que j'ai choisi de dessiner dans ma cuisine? Pour commencer le défis je voulais prendre quelque chose assez simple, donc je me suis penché sur les livres des recettes.  voici comment mes quinze minutes se sont déroulés:


First thing first, pour the tea! Then look carefully at the subject. I decided the end section with the book-end was the most interesting part. Someone once told me that you can't draw something that you don't understand - especially if it is 'technical' so make sure you look at how all the bits fit together.





Premier étape - versez le café! Puis regardez le sujet attentivement.  J'ai décidé de faire que la partie de chaque côté de la serre-livres car je la trouvé plus interressantes.
On m'a dit que pour bien dessiner, il faut bien comprendre le sujet - surtout s'il s'agit de quelque chose 'technique' alors regardez bien comment toutes les parties de l'objet - ou tous les objets- se mettent ensemble.

 

 

Ok, timer on, time to roughly sketch to overall layout.

On démare le minuteur - et commence par définer les objets en gros.

 

Ten minutes left and it's starting to take shape - quick slurp of tea and start firming up the outline.



Il me reste 10 minutes et ça commence d'avoir du forme - maintenant je vais renforcer les traits d'extérieur.

 

Finally five minutes - it is really flying by! So just time to add a bit of detail to some of the book spines and to add a bit of shading.



Dix minutes se sont déjà écoulés - comme le temps passe vite! J'en profite des ces dernièrs minutes pour ajouter des détails et un peu d'ombrage pour donner du rélief à l'image.



Beep beep beep - phew! Time to sit back, admire your work, and drink that tea :)

Bip, bip, bip - c'est fini! Maintenant on peut admirer nos travaux et terminer notre café :)
